A Perception of Society

Without trying to exemplify a “holier than thou” attitude or a tone of religiosity, I cannot resist expressing my intense thoughts about the society in which I live. Over the past month, I’ve lived in three different homeless shelters in the northern Virginia area, and it has been rather adventurous, to say the least. More than that, it’s been a great learning experience, as it has basically confirmed thoughts I’ve had about the status of our society for a long time--we are unfamiliar and absolutely out of tune with godliness.
Let it first be understood that godliness is something that many people may never even think about. The term godliness, here, can merely be considered the most reasonable way. For example, when there is a necessity to cross in front of someone within close proximity, saying “excuse me” is the most reasonable way to conduct yourself in that situation. When bumping into someone, saying “excuse me” is the most reasonable way to conduct yourself in this situation. Making the decision to physically fight for meaningful causes instead of deciding to fight spitefully, or just to appear fearless or bad, is also an example of the most reasonable way to conduct yourself. Yes, people still conduct themselves this way, and I, for one, find it overwhelmingly baffling. How is it that people over the age of twenty-five can comfortably conduct themselves in ways that exemplify complete immaturity and ungodliness (particularly in the presence of others)?
What I have mainly concluded recently is that people are so saturated with layers and layers of deceitful variables, that we are mainly dumb, deaf, and blind to the way and principles that lead to true peace, harmony, and happiness. What’s more, these layers of deceitful variables have, in a sense, callused, over generations, to the extent that people have been coerced into becoming comfortable with the way of evil. Ultimately, what I observe every day I wake up--no matter where I am or what I’m doing--is people who are comfortable with having to lie to and deceive others, people who are comfortable with having to seduce others, and people who are either unfamiliar with godliness or simply choose to live an ungodly life.  Why?
The only explanation I can come up with is that mankind has allowed the way of the wicked to be the way of this world.  The mechanisms of evil have become so potent within this society, that the way of godliness (the way of righteousness, the way of reason) has become nearly extinct.  It seems the way of the wicked, the way of evil, the way of deception, the way of seduction has, in a sense, diluted the way of godliness, over generations, leaving almost all of mankind completely oblivious to godliness. I have concluded that I am not able to explain the status of our society in any other way.
